Sledding

The temperature was perfect, there was snow on the ground and that called for a sledding trip.

I was really hoping to hit up a BIG hill in a town near by, but Steve wasn't in a sledding mood :( So instead we geared up and head over to Gary and Mary's to give their hills a whirl.

The started out on the driveway making trip after trip down. Then made their way to the backyard to try another hill.

They did rather well trekking up and down those hills. After the few times I went down to help bring up a sled or little girl I'm glad we didn't head over to the big hill...

And Michael turns 9...

I remember it like yesterday, sitting in the hospital room waiting to meet our first mystery baby and wondering am I really ready for this.

How will I know what he needs?
How will I know when to feed him?
How will I know how to be his mother?

And then that moment happens when he came into this world and was placed up on my belly and instantly I knew I could do this. He is mine.

I will know what he needs.
I will know when he needs to eat.
And I will know how to be a wonderful mother.

It is no joke when people tell you, enjoy them because before you know it they will be all grown up. As I sit here I am still amazed that I am the mother of a 9 year old. WOW!

This little man is excels in everything he does. There is no sport that he doesn't enjoy playing or watching. From day 1 in kindergarten we knew school work was going to come easy to him and still to this day it does. Often times he has to be reminded by his teachers to put his hand down so others can answer the question. And boy what a social butterfly he is. Some days there will be 5 kids in my backyard all because Michael said come on over to play.

I'm looking forward to watching him continue to grow into an even more amazing young man, but until then I'm sure hoping he will slow his growing down a bit ;)

Happy Birthday Michael!

Love,
Mom

Above and Beyond Museum

Landon's "Go See It" for cub scouts this month was a trip to a local museum. We have never been to the Above and Beyond Museum in Sheboygan before so we packed up all the kids and headed over. The boys got to get their hands dirty learning a little science...how to bake a cake.

I'm going to have to remember this recipe for at home. 1 box angel food cake and 1 box regular cake mix, mixed together. Then you take 3 tablespoons of the mixture and add it to 2 tablespoons of water and cook in a microwave for 1 minute and tada....instant cake! Talk about an easy way to have desert every night!

Many trips were made across the suspended tunnel to get to the slides.

Ladies and Gentleman take your seats Miss Lainey is ready to start the show!

Take 1...Landon, Lainey, Michael

Take 2 Landon, Mackenzie, Michael and Lainey

(I didn't snap this picture fast enough before Lainey started pushing all the pins in, oh well)

This wall was awesome! If only we had one of these at home.

After a fun filled Sunday afternoon of hard playing, back home to rest on the couch we went.

Dells Weekend

Every February we head out to the Dells for our annual mid winter getaway. The kids look forward to it every time!

How do we keep 4 kids busy on a long car ride you ask? Well that's easy we switch it up between game players, coloring, movies, sleep or just plain old looking out windows.

This year we began our weekend at Buffalo Phil's restaurant. Last year we ended our weekend here and the kids loved it so made sure to hit it up again this year. The best part is the train that brings your drinks and food out to the table!

After our bellies were full we headed over to an indoor amusement park for some fun. The kids spent plenty of time jumping in the bounce house and riding these airplanes over and over and over again.

Next we all took turns riding the mini roller coaster. Everyone loved it, except for poor Landon. The look on his face every time he came around was priceless.

The little boy that got stuck riding with him was great, he talked to him through out the whole ride to keep him calm, while Michael loved it! I guess we won't be heading to six flags anytime soon.

Once we got to our hotel room, we had to take advantage of this giant tub! Yep that's right, we got all 7 kids in it. They lasted a good hour in there, but once we found the floor was flooded, we made them get out...oops!

My brother in law said they kinda looked like a pot of kid soup :)

To wind down the evening we put in a movie and relaxed on the couch.

We began Sunday morning with big breakfast and headed out to the water park.

As if I didn't already know, this girl once again showed me that she really has NO FEAR! Once she figured out how to get to the top of the slides, there was no stopping her. The was another slide about 3 times the length of this one that Landon and Mackenzie refused to go on. Well this little girl couldn't stay off that one either!

Another successful Dells trip under our belt. Let the count down begin to head out there again next year.

Derby Race Day

We made it through our first Derby Race. The kids had a blast cheering on their cars and watching them fly down the track. Lainey had a blast running wild around the hall and giving her poor Mom a horrible migraine :(

Little did she know she had the best seat in the house, too bad she only lasted there for 5 minutes.

There sure were some pretty cool looking cars. This Derby stuff if serious and it looks like a lot of time was spent making these cars just right.

There was a total of 29 races. Landon's car was a little slower, coming in 5-6 place every time. Michael's car was a little quicker coming in around 3-4 place each time.

Each boy got a medal, shown around Michael's neck, for participating in the race. Michael received a plaque for Judges Fancy.

Overall it was a great experience for the boys. They learned how to design, and put together their own cars. And most importantly learned that not everyone can get the grand trophy, but there is always next year to try again.
