Derby time

This year we defiantly weren't ahead of schedule by any means. We got our blocks of wood 2 months before the derby races, but instead waited until a week before to get them done.

So over to Grandpa Krocka's house we headed to get the cars cut out and sanded down smooth.

Grandpa even had some spare paint on hand that the boys liked so they quickly got the cars painted the same day!

This year they opted to make simple car designs and they turned out great!

It is always fun to check out all the different design done on the cars.

Both boys raced great this year. The came in the top 4 for all their races, last year I believe they came in 5th or 6th for all their races :/

And to our surprise each car came in first for one of their races, so they were super excited to see their name on the screen!

All competitors get a medal for their hard work in making the cars.

And this year Landon did exceptionally well. He received a plaque for the most realistic car.

And his car came in FIRST amongst all the cars in his grade level. And let me tell you he was so ecstatic about that.

So ecstatic in fact, that he had to set up all his awards when we got home to send Grandpa a text message and picture :)

Even though Michael didn't get a big fancy award, he still had fun and that's all that matters. He reminded me that he got a plaque last year when Landon didn't (and this caused ALOT of tears from Landon) so he was not upset that he didn't get a plaque this year.

And knowing that he was ok with that made my night!

Surprise visit at Scouts

Santa made his usual surprise visit at Scouts in December.

Everyone enjoyed saying hello to Santa and getting their little treat bag, but of course there is always 1 child that refuses to follow suit...

Oh well, maybe next year we'll have a picture of all 4 of them sitting on Santa's lap.

Museum

Last month the Milwaukee Public museum was offering a membership swap day. We have a membership to Discovery World, so we were able to get into the museum with our card. Since it had been well over a year since we had been there, we packed up the kids and headed out.

Last time we had gone to the Museum Landon insisted on sitting in the stroller with his eyes covered until we were far away from the dinosaurs, this time it was Lainey who was a little skittish, but she still made it through walking and eyes open.

And since Lainey wouldn't stop talking about the butterflies, we opted to hit them up next!

Of course once she got in the room, she refused to be put down.

Next stop was every ones favorite, Old World Wisconsin.

Then off to check out the different Countries.

And our final stop was at the Native Americans where we tried to match up the pictures to the actual models in front of us.

Its was a lovely Sunday afternoon spent as a family strolling around the museum.

Sooo behind!

I did it again, I let time pass and forgot to keep the kids blog updated.

So now I'm back at the request of family, to get my butt in gear and get this updated. And here I thought I was the only one reading this ;)

Thanks to an unfortunate run in with a Deer a few weeks ago, I totaled my work car :( On the good side, to avoid paying a fortune in gas with driving my suburban,  I stopped picking up extra shifts at work and am now just working outside the home 2 days a week. You'd think I'd have tons of free time to keep up with the blog, but no I've managed to keep myself busy over the holiday season with lots of cookie orders, kids home for break and I've found myself engulfed in a new workout program that I've been helping others get started on as well.

So now I shall begin catching up.....

Back in Novemeber the boys had their favorite pack meeting of the year. At this meeting they get to throw pies in the face of their leader. In order to do that they had to sell popcorn.

They get lined up and patiently await their name to be called.

This is Dan, he is the head leader, and bless his heart he takes the grunt of the hits. If I remember correctly he received about 30 pies to the face!

Micheal getting ready for his swing.....

and a hit!

Those kids sure have some power behind their throws, I found myself wincing every time poor Dan got hit in the face!

Poor Landon was sick and feel asleep 10 minutes before we had to leave. Such a bummer for him to miss the fun, but that's ok cause there's always next year!
